Are you up for ancient temples, a former capital city wrapped in autumn colors? Kyoto and its surroundings aren't just famous for their cherry blossoms during Spring season. They also are stunningly beautiful during Autumn and absolutely worth a visit. Book a flight to Osaka for the time between mid October and early December and head to Kyoto from there. This up and coming country with its historic and bustling capital city, Ljubljana, offers a beautiful blend between East and West. Lake Bled is one of its scenic gems: a serene lake with an island in the middle, hosting a church. Bled itself is a beautiful town, which is towered by an iconic castle. Go there mid to end of October to take in the scenery in all of its Autumn beauty.

5. Rila Monastery, Bulgaria

Truth spoken: Bulgaria is one of the most underrated countries in Europe. Therefore, we decided to mention at least one of its major attractions in this article. Rila Monastery is the largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria. Founded in the 10th century, it is one of the architectural monuments that are absolutely worth a visit. On top of that, the monastery is located in a beautiful mountain scenery, which turns into beautiful autumn colors between end of September and early November. Just take a flight to Sofia and either book a tour or hop on a bus into that direction!
